A 51-year-old man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually abusing two girls in the province of Santa Fe. The accused, identified as Hugo Fabián Scotta, received a unanimous verdict at the conclusion of an oral trial held in the provincial capital courts.
According to prosecutor Jorgelina Moser Ferro, who represented the Public Prosecutor's Office (MPA) in the case, "the court found the accusation proven and imposed the penalty requested in our arguments." Moser Ferro detailed that Scotta committed the abuses repeatedly between 2013 and 2016, when the girls were elementary school students and visited the convicted man's home, who was part of their family environment.
The prosecutor explained that Scotta subjected the girls to sexual abuse and forced them to witness sexually explicit material, which, due to the intrafamilial context and the gravity of the events, had a significant impact on the development of the minors. After several years, the girls shared their suffering with other family members, which led one of the mothers to file a complaint that triggered the criminal investigation.
Finally, the accused was found guilty of severely outrageous sexual abuse and aggravated promotion of the corruption of minors, both crimes committed when the victims were minors. The imposed sentence reflects the seriousness of the acts committed by Scotta and seeks to deliver justice in a case that has moved the local community.
